The Holidays 2023 – Opening hours and more about Christmas and New years

The Hlíðarfjall crew sends its best wishes for a merry Christmas and a great winter season.

Our first opening day of the winter is planned, Friday 22.Dec. At first the opening will be limited to part of the lower area since we are still in need for snow in upper area and parts of the lower. Hólabraut and Hjallabraut will be opened plus the Magic Carpet, but these last days we have made great improvements on the overstructure with help from Sun Kid manufacturer. For the next few days we will work on getting connections to and from Fjarki chairlift and we hope to be have it ready to run on Christmas day. Of course we aim to open more of the area as soon as the snow cover allows.

It is snowing here today which is fantastic but so far the snowfall this season has been very little and we have limited snow cover in upper area and parts of the lower. The snow that we have managed to work on the slopes is almost all produced with our snow guns. We therefore want to warn guests that off piste skiing is quite dodgy since the snow cover is very thin and easy to hit rocks underneath.
